My Dog, My Friend

I’m taking my dog, IttyBit, to the vet today, and I’m sure he’s going to recommend putting her to sleep. She’s been such a good little girl, loving, fun, affectionate, stubborn… and my friend.

When I’ve needed to talk, she listens, without talking back.
When I’ve needed to laugh, or cry, or hugs someone (or something), she’s been there.
She sleeps with me every night.
She follows me around everywhere.
She’s at the door both when I leave and when I come home.
She loves to play with me (until she got too sick to play).
She never fails to say Thank You when I give her a treat (y’know, the lick of gratitude).

She’s been with me for 7 years, she’s almost 12 now. She has mammary tumors, can’t hold herself long enough for me to get her outside, so has frequent “accidents” in the house, can’t go up/down the stairs anymore because her back legs give out from under her. And now she hasn’t eaten in 4 days.

I think it’s time.   :(

She has been a faithful, loving little friend.   I sure will miss my little girl.

I walked out of work

this morning, to find snow on my car.  Oh YAYYYY!  :)

Happy Birthday…

… to me!  :-D

51 today.  Good grief, where has the time gone?

My Interview!

Just a few months ago, I got involved with a new forum software, Xenforo. I’ve known the owners/developers, Mike, Kier and Ashley, for some time, and they asked me to become a moderator on the site, which, of course, I accepted.  It’s been different, and fun.

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked to be interviewed by one of our more active members, for his popular blog, Beyond Scary. I accepted, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Most important to me, is that I was able to share quite a bit about my son, and Asperger Syndrome. Interestingly enough, the interviewer, Jeff, also has a child with Aspergers!

You’re welcome to read the interview, and comment here.

Lessons Learned – June 24, 2010

Having a Jack Russell terrier will flat WEAR YOU OUT.  *faint*

Lesson Learned – May 25, 2010

At the ripe old age of 50, I’ve decided that I want to learn a new lesson, at least a couple of times per week.

Today’s lesson –
Never use the weedeater on your yard in the morning, wearing shorts.

“Why?”, you may ask.

Cuz wet grass stings! :(

Update time!

Got in from work not too long ago (it’s 10:10 am now), but wanted to add a little something here before I hit the sack.

Well, I finally did it. I sold all of my vBulletin licenses and closed all of my forums. I’m free (but not cheap ;) )
I’m definitely going to devote more time to this blog, adding more updates on my son, more tips and stuff for parents of Asperger kids, and just more “stuff” that I like and hope you will too.

Speaking of my son, he’s doing great! His new psychiatrist has re-done some of his meds, taken him off some and added something else, and he is really doing great. His teachers are impressed with his behavior and his new motivation. He is honestly trying, both in school and at home. I’m a happy mama.

Ok I’m off to bed, but I’ll be posting more often, so check back on me! :)

Heart monitor

Well goody for me! Went to the cardiologist yesterday, and he decided to put me on this portable heart monitor for 24 hours.
For anybody who’s never worn one – it’s not fun. The adhesive from the leads is driving me nuts, I have to remember to take this darn box around with me, have to write down every single ‘episode’, etc etc etc.

I can’t wait to get this thing off. :(

Old age

Ok so I’m getting old.  :(

I had an appointment with a dermatologist today.  He removed a few “skin abnormalities” from my back and left shoulder. A couple were sent off for biopsies, should know something next week, but he doesn’t think they’re anything but “old age creeping up on you”.

Ya gotta love these docs  :)

My How Things Change

You just never know what life is going to throw at you, or who’s going to shoot you in the foot (or stab you in the back).
But I have always had a motto – “No one can do to you what you don’t let them do“.
Think about that.  I sure have lately.

But here’s another motto I go by – “You reap what you sow” – the Bible.
And that gives me peace that would otherwise elude me at times like this.
