I can’t say it any better than this………

Summer Went by Fast!

Well, technically it is still summer, but my son’s weeks at Belmont Pine’s summer program went by incredibly quickly. He’s off now for almost three weeks (YIKES!), and starts school Sept. 7th.

I looked at the date of my last post and realized I haven’t added anything since June. I’m so bad!

I’ve been busy busy busy, but will be writing more soon!

Summer Fun!

I usually dread summer. Not only because it’s too darn HOT – I hate the heat – but because there are so few activities, or camps, or day programs, for kids with Asperger Syndrome. However, here in our area of Ohio, we have a kids psychiatric center – Belmont Pines – that has a day program (camp) for our kids! It started 2 weeks after school let out, and ends 2 weeks before they go back to school. Just right!

Ed goes Tuesday – Thursday, and has a blast! Not only do they do the regular day camp stuff, but they also see their psychiatrist once per week, and attend OT, PT, and speech (if needed) classes, socialization groups, and much more. He is doing fantastic, for the mostpart, although with any child with these disorders, there are going to be a few bumps. My boy is no exception. ;)

He is learning a very important lesson at Belmont Pines. He does not have a disability. He has a very unique ability to see the world in a different way than other people see it. He has grabbed on to that lesson and so have I. I am so proud of him (us)!

Having fun with his DSi and computer.

Our newest pooch

This past February 22, we adopted a pooch from the Trumbull County Animal Rescue League here in Ohio.  His name is TBo, he was 7 mos old at adoption, and we just celebrated his first birthday a couple of weeks ago.

TBo is a Jack Russell terrier, a sweetheart, and a stubborn canine catastrophe!  I say that with the utmost love, of course, lol.  He wasn’t housebroken when we adopted him, and not knowing how stubborn Jack Russell’s are, I didn’t think there’d be a problem training him. WOW was I wrong. BUT I persevere!

I’ve attached a couple of pics of him, and of our other dog, IttyBit, who’s a female 11-yr-old shihtzu mix.

Here’s a Novel Idea –

Why don’t we just fire every single politician, from the mayors to the prez/congress/representatives (who are they representing anyway? NOT me!), and start all over!!

BP Oil Disaster – ongoing

No one has commented on my first post about this, but I’ll continue to post my thoughts, because this is very upsetting for me.

Watching as dolphins are being rescued (some not in time), looking at video of the once beautifully snow-white Pensacola beach being turned into an oily nightmare, hearing about a boat captain committing suicide because he can’t take care of his family anymore…

What are you doing about this, BP? How are you going to compensate?  Newsflash – You CAN’T. All the money in the world can’t fix the horror that you’ve created here.

SHAME ON YOU!

Lessons Learned – June 24, 2010

Having a Jack Russell terrier will flat WEAR YOU OUT.  *faint*

BP Oil Disaster –

Is ANYONE as outraged about this Gulf crisis as I am. I’m sure you are. So LET us know about it!

The latest estimate from the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Assoc.) is that approximately 39,000,000 gallons of oil are destroying our gulf!  For a more accurate figure, go here. BayouLee.com.

This is tragic, people. Further, it is (or should be) a crime, for which BP should be held both ethically, and legally, accountable.

Your thoughts?

Quote of the day

For June 13, 2010 –

For those who believe, no proof is necessary.
For those who don’t believe, no proof is possible.

Lesson Learned – May 25, 2010

At the ripe old age of 50, I’ve decided that I want to learn a new lesson, at least a couple of times per week.

Today’s lesson –
Never use the weedeater on your yard in the morning, wearing shorts.

“Why?”, you may ask.

Cuz wet grass stings! :(
